I bought this book years ago. I've read it over and over, I love it so much. The characters are their own people, each one has his or her own voice. The alternate world is so finely described. Rick and Matty are stand-outs.My only quibble is .. where's the next book (Slavecatcher?). The website about Slavecatcher seems to have been last updated in 2014. There is an old worn teaser on the site but, honestly, I've been teased quite enough now, I want a full book. Has something happened to the author? Hope not.
Sigh, guess I'll just have to keep reading Ricochet.

Phenomenol! One of the best books I have read in ages. I tend to roll my eyes when people say " I couldn't put it down". But on this case I really couldn't. I read this until four in the morning on a work night. The it was new and exciting. Left open for other characters. The twists kept you interested. Made you want to cry and rant and cheer. I fell on love. Thank you to the author!
After reading the book's description of subs and doms, I was a bit wary. Mention of such things made it seem like there would be too many intimate scenes for me. (I do read the intimate parts, but after a few pages of them, unless they're full blown amazing, I end up skipping through) But it had good ratings, and I'm a sucker for any book about acting.
What happened? I was pleasantly surprised. There were intimate scenes, but they were interesting. The world of subs and doms that made me wary? It was actually a fun to read world. It was intriguing how the society functioned, they treated subs and doms like genders, in a way. Just... Everything was great. Give it a chance, or maybe not, but really, maybe you should...?
I've read some good and some crap. This has been the best thus far.
The story is able to dive into the intricacies of a Dom/sub relationship while keeping you interested in the story line and not derail into complete porno. The struggles from both the Dom and sub perspectives seem so real that you'll want to slap some scents into both Rick and Matt. The punishment at the end is so well explained that you understand truly how a loving Dom/sub relationship ought to be.
The page count is great for the price. Some books will only give a couple hundred pages which is a ripoff for the price but not this one. It's perfect.
4.5 stars. I loved the AU. Set things nicely with out the usual angst storyline like coming out angst,etc. But some plot twists were very obvious.
This was not your usual dark BDSM book and the take on D/s dynamic was very refreshing. I would consider this a BDSM light book for the fresh take on the subject but there are spankings, collaring, nipple clamping, punishments and more. Well I guess after that you would think this was heavy on BDSM but it feels like its not due to the alternate universe set up.
Waiting for Karl and Daniel story now ;-)
The entire book was incredibly satisfying from start to finish. The alternate universe was intriguing especially when so much was similar to our own (movies, stars etc.); I definitely would enjoy reading more stories about it- hell, I'd like to live there! I truly found Rick and Matt to be lovable protagonists and their journey felt sincere and believable to boot. Very few noticeable errors and if there were more I was too into my bdsm space to notice (get it? Like sub space...yeah I'm not witty, sorry). I'm happy I bought this unlike some of the e books masquerading as worthwhile; I'll be reading this again soon.
Ricochet is a very enjoyable read and definitely leaves us wanting more. The story makes it very clear that the next book will be about Karl and Daniel. Recently I reread Ricochet and this lead me to check to see if the Karl and Daniel story had finally been published...sadly it was not. So I just want to remind the author that there is still a demand for Karl and Daniel's story.
I bought this novel on a whim when it came up as a recommendation and I have never been so happy with a purchase. From the very beginning I was swept up in this universe and the characters; I found my stomach muscles clench with anxiety and excitement both and during one particular moment of triumph I nearly crowed out my glee. Not wanting to scare my neighbors, I settled for an ass shake of victory instead. I couldn't put this book down and once I decompress a little, I will be reading it again. I had never heard of Xanthe Walter before but I hope to God I hear from her again! Give this book a shot, you won't regret it!
